OUR SERVICE

Questions and answers

Renters and private apartment owners

Müller-electronic is a manufacturer consumer data collection devices. Unfortunately, we are unable to help renters and private apartment owners with their requests. We do not have access to our customers’ data. In case of questions of any kind, please contact your landlord, apartment management, or measuring service.

Can I configure my measuring devices myself?

All of our customers can configure their measuring devices themselves. To configure our 1st generation of devices, you require µline config, µ2config for all newer devices, as well as the communication head KoKo II. To protect against unauthorised access, the device password is required.

Where do I need the AES key?

The AES key (Advanced Encryption Standard) is necessary to prevent unauthorised access to the consumption data. This is required to decrypt the wireless data (for walk-by and remote read-out). The key is always 32 characters long, includes numbers, and the letters A-F.

What options do have to read my consumption metres?

  • Visual reading: Reading off the display
  • Walk-by / drive-by reading: Wireless read-out on-site with a radio receiver (WBF-1) and the µline read program.
  • Remote read-out: You can access your data immediately with our µportal, anywhere and any time. The requirement is assembly of a data collector and repeater on-site, as needed. This enormously simplifies creation of consumption information throughout the year.

What do I need a wireless attachment module for?

The wireless attachment module is used to expand the mechanical water metre with wireless functionality.

Do I need to replace my water metre after a certain installation period?

All consumption metres have a legally specified calibration validity and must be replaced prior to expiry (German Measurement and Calibration Act (MessEG). Wireless attachment modules do not need to be calibrated, since they transmit the measured counter value of the measuring devices. The battery runtime is sufficient for two calibration periods of a water metre.

The display of my heating cost distributor shows different characters; what do they mean?

The product information features explanations of the characters.

May I configure µon individually and add my own logo?

Yes, of course you can configure µon² individually and add your own logo. We offer comprehensive adaptive options to ensure that µon² corresponds with your specific requirements, including integration of your logo or branding. Please contact us for additional details and to discuss your individual adjustment requirements.

Does my heating cost distributor count in case of direct sunshine or if a stove is located close to the radiator?

No, the heating cost distributor only counts when the temperature of the heating is higher than the room temperature.

What is a heating cost distributor?

A heating cost distributor like our µon² is a device that is installed in apartments and buildings to collect the individual consumption quantity of heating energy. This is typically attached to the heating registers and measures the heating output in the form of temperature differences. This information is then used to distribute the heating costs for each individual user fairly, on the basis of their actual consumption. The µon² therefore enables fair accounting of heating costs within a living area or a building.

What does ‘unit value’ refer to?

The heating cost distributor is not programmed with a correcting factor. The consumption value is only transmitted during billing. The value on the display therefore does not correspond with the value on the display. The correcting factor is dependent on the heating output of the radiator, the radiator type, and the heating cost distributor.

What does ‘product value’ refer to?

The heating cost distributor is programmed with the corresponding correcting factor during mounting. This means that the values on the display correspond with the actual values on the bill.

What are remote sensors used for?

  • In case of heating cost distributors with an external radiator sensor (remote sensor), the radiator is built onto a 5m long cable. Remote sensors are used when direct mounting of the heating cost distributor on the radiator is not possible due to the design.

What is the basic sensitivity of the µon²?

The basic sensitivity according to the VDE supplement is EB= 13.3*2/24 = 1.1 VE/kWh

What options are available to read via wireless?

  • Walk-by: Or also via drive-by read-out: Stand in front of the building with the hand-held radio transmitter.
  • Remote read-out: They receive the devices via a data collector installed on the property nearly automatically via our µline read program and our µportal.

I cannot receive my devices; what is the problem?

  • To limit the different options, triggering the integrated radio may be helpful.
  • Check if the device transmits in the selected period. Make sure that the set radio period corresponds with winter time (GMT +1).
  • Are the devices set to continuous transmission or are the sampling and monthly radio days relevant?
  • Do you have the correct wireless receiver (ME radio/OMS radio)?
  • Is your OMS radio receiver from the year 2016 or earlier? Then they can only receive wireless protocols with T mode and not with C mode.
  • Have you installed your device correctly and is located within the radio area?

How can I recognise an OMS radio receiver?

“OMS” is located in the lower area on the product sheet. In case of ME radio, on the other hand, there is no title at this point.

How flexible are the transmission frequencies of your devices? Can customers select on which days and at which times the devices send data, and is the frequency adjustable to the transmission?

Yes, our devices offer a high degree of flexibility for transmission frequencies. Customers can individually select on which days and at which times the devices should send data. The frequency of these transmissions can also be adjusted. For example, customers can specify that there devices send data on 5 days of the month, each for 5 hours per day, whereby the transmissions will take place every 4 minutes during these hours. These adjustment options allow customers to control the data transmission according to their individual requirements and preferences.

How high is the radiation of your devices compared with other electronic devices?

A conventional, modern smartphone, for example, produces nearly 1000 times more radiation than our µon². Our devices were developed to emit limited electromagnetic radiation, while they still work efficiently and reliably.

I would like to expand my water metre with the ability to transmit wirelessly retroactively. Do I have to replace it now?

In order to achieve radio compatibility, the radio attachment module can be mounted retroactively. The starting consumption must be added to the module.

What do I need to do if my measuring device is no longer positioned properly on the heating?

Please contact your building management or the metering service provider.

I have a question about my billing; who can I contact?

Please contact your building management or the metering service provider.

I’m not sure if my measuring device is installed properly. Who is the right contact person in this case?

Please contact your building management or the metering service provider.

I have accidentally damaged my measuring device; who do I contact?

Please contact your building management or the metering service provider.

In previous years, my measuring devices were always checked; will someone come to check this year?

Please contact your building management or the metering service provider.

What is the difference between µline read, µline config, µ2config and µportal?

  • µ2config: This software program enables you to configure current and future devices for the µline series of products.
  • µline config: This software program enables you to configure 1st generation devices for the µline series of products.
  • µline read: Using this software, a walk-by is possible to read the radio telegrams of the µline devices and OMS-compatible partner products. It is also possible to complete remote read-outs after discussing with us.
  • µportal: This enables properties and data collectors to be managed. An overview and status display of the received measurement position is provided. Furthermore, creation of read-out files is possible without any problems.

Where do I get this program?
